BER -

Building Energy Rating

Name given to certificate or energy label for new homes. Similar to label on white goods,rating for energy efficiency and CO2 emissions.

BER required for all new buildings from Jan '07.

 

Kyoto Protocol --

The Kyoto Protocol, an international and legally binding agreement to reduce greenhouse gases emissions world wide, entered into force on 16 February 2005.

 

EPBD --

The Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) (2002/91/EC) requires energy performance certificates to be provided by the building owner to the potential buyer/tenant for buildings which are sold, constructed or rented. Software will be required to ensure the effective operation and administration of the Energy Rating Scheme and a national database of energy rated buildings.
